3.0 Issue....

Ok guys here is my question….

I just rebuilt a 3.0 and turning it over by hand was a little hard but it turned. I was trying to get the Trans to mate with the motor and it just didn’t feel like it was, I thought turning the motor over might help. (It’s an auto) so as I was pulling on the 3 foot breaker bar it wouldn’t budge! Even broke the breaker bar.

I was thinking the end of the torque converter was not lined up with the pump and the bolts that where installed were pulling it in to tight.

What your thoughts??

1995 4 Runner 3.0 auto.

Did you double seat the torque converter? If not....pull it back apart and make sure you didn't break the tabs on the trans pump, then double seat the torque converter (ie it should click down twice while turning). Then reinstall.

Major thing is, check to make sure you didn't break the pump. If thats broken, you wont know until you go to buy it.

X2. Converter probably pulled out a bit when motor was removed. Hope you didnt damage anything. Check your flexplate as well
