3.0 head bolts

Om so I am reinstalling the heads on my 3.0 for the second time. While we were turning the last 90* the bar slipped a bit and turned to about 96*. My question is, is it better to leave it as is? Or back it off a few degrees to make them all even?

Any help is appreciated.

Jason

Once the head gasket is torqued it should never be loosened until you plan on replacing them. 6* probably won't hurt it though.

No harm done. It would be far better to leave it as is than to back off on a TTY head bolt. Nice to see you are being so thorough.

Four for torquing them all the same and call it good. I turned mine all down about a 1/16 of a turn past 90° on the final turn when I installed them the last time. I haven't had any issues since doing so either.

i torque my 1/4 of a turn more when I did my HG job and no problem...so I think you be fine as long you torque all the bolts the same.
