lucky people getting 18-20 mpg. I get about 13 in the city and if I'm lucky and keep it below 72-73 18 on highway. I running factroy really low gears with 32's, K&N and exhaust from manifold back. I do believe that the toyota parts computer at work said 4.70:1 gears? I work at a dealer.

 

i just took my rack off.... OMG that was SOOOO freakin heavy. 100lb spare, 100lb highlift, plus the rack plus the lights, plus the 3gal gas can up there too... i hope this increases my MPG alot..

 

Im seeing anywhere from 14 to 20mpg in my 5spd 3.0 xtracab pick up

 

I was getting up to 24 mpg with my 4x4 xtracab on the Interstate at @ 70 mph. About 20 overall.

atleast yours has more power then my 20r.....i was gettin 10mpg in the winter then 13mpg when i got up to the 60s....it was alll stock with 31
my 2.7 get 22 with 31s stock

 

Maybe you guys didnt notice but the first post is referring to a TWO wheel drive truck. They get much better mileage than the 4 whell drive models. My 22re 4x4 is now getting 21 MPG sity and 23 highway. When I bought it it got 14 hwy. It took a lot of sensor replacement, a new timing chain, and a good bit of tuning and summer gas to get what I get now. I think the 22re single cab 2wd will get 30 mpg.

 

manual locking hubs... i'm 2wd till i say so.

 

Synthetic oil and a light right foot have helped my economy the most.

 

yeah 2wds do get better mileage (maybe because they aren't pushing all that front drivetrain around all day?). My old 93 22re 2wd got 30mpg, my old 94 22re 4wd got 17mpg (and not nearly as much power as the 2wd).

 

You know what, Im going to go ahead and say Never. 26 mpg in a 4x4 3.0 is impossible unless that was reffering to a purely downhill stretch of road. Its got to be impossible to get that average over an entire tank of gas.

Im getting 15 city, 17 hwy in my 3.0 5sp. Im impressed that so many people are reporting 19mpg.

 

i got 18.5 before i did seafoam and a muffler and a tune up.
since ive done all that
yesterday i drove 153miles on just tiny more than a quarter of a tank.

i drove all over town all day sunday and the guage never moved.

 

Yeah for those that say that these 3.0's get the same mileage as a SBC I was definatly putting more into my Camaro.

 

16-17 in town 20-22 highway. Trying to be more of a lightfoot. Currently rebuilding a pair of manual hubs to swap out then the O2 sensor. We'll see what that does?

Yeah I know, I'm impressed myself that I get 19 on long trips with an auto. It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside knowing my engine must be in perfect tune lol.

 

bump...I am getting 14-16 mixed driving...when i got the 4 runner i was getting 18-19. I just did a complete tune up. NGK plugs, wires, denso cap, rotor, and o2 sensor and my mpg is still low is there something i am missing? I am on 32 inch tires with 488 gears 3.0 with a 5 speed. any information would be great....

 

V6 auto 4runner and I'm getting 15. I would kill for 20!

 

i recently regeared to 5.29s with 33s and an auto. Now i am consistently getting 15MPG, all city. im sure i could do way better.

At the begining of summer, on the way to SE4RJ4, i still had 4.10s and i was running 31s. I got ~20MPG. I was STOKED!!!

 

They say every 100 pounds of wieght reduction gives you an extra 1 MPG. On rare occaisions, I've gotten over 20 MPG with the 5speed in my 4runner. mostly it's around 18-19. Around town it's like 9-12 MPG. I don't drive around town anymore.....
