3.0 distributor replacement

I need to replace the distributor in my '94 4Runner V-6.

The shaft is excessivly worn and causing excessive noise from under the hood when running.

I am waiting on my repair manuals for this truck but need to know the procedure for replacing this in the mean time.

I searched the tech articles but was unable to find anything.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hardest part is timming.

as for the replacement, you take out the adjustment lock down bolt and the wires off then the whole assmbly just pulls striaght out.

putting the new one in is just as easy.

cept for that whole timming thing which i still havnt figured out compeletely myself.

in theory theres some marks you have to line up when the motor is at TDC of compression.

make shure you get a replacement distrubutor from roughly the same year. they changed plug styles back in the late 80's i think

use a camera and take a picture of the distributor that is in there...when u put the new one in just make sure the rotor is lined up just like the other one...
