3.0 Auto in Low Range when H2 selected?

Searched for a similar problem bit couldn't find anything.

Yesterday morning started driving truck and realized after a block it was in low range even though the selector was in H2.

It did not feel like the front diff was engaged (but maybe it was).

Shifted into H4 and then back to H2 and it came out of low range.

I could hear the transfer case whining so I know it was engaged.

I haven't used L4 for a week so I know I hadn't accidently left it in H2.

Any ideas?

Also have noticed lately that when it's cold it will only shift into 2cnd if I back off the gas.

thanks

so, you turned the truck off and it was in H2, and then you get back in the truck and it was in L4 (but not activated?) ? Either someone was messing with your truck, or the auto trans needs a really good flush.
