reason i'm asking is i want to bring a full size, or close to full size spare for trail runs.

the factory spare is 225/75/15

i've got my fullsize 31x10.5 spare there no problem. I don't know if a 32 will fit or not though. In my case it looks like it would be dangerously close to the exhaust pipe....

depends on the exhaust routing and if the bumper does anything "weird" in its design...

I jam a 235/85R16 under there (thats like a 32x9.5) I have to shove it over a bit at the final crank up - but it fits

I had my 33x10.50 under there.

x2 on close to the exhaust though!

I have seen 35's stuffed under a 3rd Gen.

In theory, the width of your frame rail spacing is your main limiting factor in regards to tire size.

One can move almost everything else with enough time and enough grinding wheels.

I made the mistake of having my exhaust installed without my spare tire in place. When I did put my spare under there, I kept smelling something burning, and couldn't figure what it was, then when I got home, I had one very melted spare tire. The spare was a 225 also. If you have your exhaust done, you could probably mount a much bigger tire than that.
