Logically, an old fuel filter is going to give you poor mileage and performance. If it's hurtin' you that bad, you might have to bite the bullet and do what you need to do. 12mpg still seems awfully low. Of course, driving habits affect mileage a lot, too.

yea I hear that...actually gas is now around $3.15/gal here for mid-grade..I agree 12 MPG still seems low...atleast 15 MPG would be better..plus with those nice clean injectors (witchunter)...and an old filter doesn't seem to mix..

i have 94 3.0 5spd with 31" tires, i got ~16mpg half hwy half local. so 12mpg on an auto isn't THAT bad. i have new plugs, CAT, muffler, pipe and old wires/rotor.

before i had the timing corrected, i got 14mpg, even the timing belt was replaced only couple months ago. it doesn't hurt to double check on yours.

I dont mean to hijack but what is the typical MPG on a 22RE. I saw the sticker that says 19 city and 22 hwy, but what are some peoples actual numbers.

I have 350K on mine with gas logs to prove it
typical driving is
20-21mpg for mostly highway
21-23mpg for road trip highway
17-19 more city than highway

a low of 12 for off roading
