2nd gen cargo cover?
Okay, hate to bring this one up again, but since nobody seems to have put a cargo cover in their 2nd gen runner, i was wondering simply if anybody has taken the rear plastic panels off their runner, and if so if there are (and where are) any metal bits i could conveniently drill into to mount home-made brackets for a cargo cover . Something about seat-back level and as close to the seat as possible. Please post any pics if you got 'em. If this thread doesn't make any sense please let me know, im exceedingly tired . Thanks for all the help.

I'm going to do this soon, after school is done. I picked up a grey cargo cover from a Tahoe on eBay for $36, it's 50" wide, which is great, but it's a little short, so I'm going to make up the difference with a carpeted piece of wood, and attach it to my speaker boxes/amp rack things I made. I'll post pics when I'm done.

My '93 4Runner came with brackets already installed for a cargo cover. There are 2 just behind the rear seats, and 2 at the back corners. They screw/bolt into metal brackets behind the plastic panels. It is possible that all 4Runners have these metal brackets already attached to the body.
Unless they only put them on Canadian vehicles, which seems unlikely.

This is my first post on Yotatech, and I hope this helps. I bought my rig in november, and it came with a cargo cover(looks stock). It's a Canadian rig, so that might be why. I'll try to post some pics of the brackets and the cover itself. Let me know if it helps.

Helps a ton! Thanks for the pics. Now i will have to see if i can convince my local yota dealer to order the brackets (wouldnt that just be dandy?) If not, have to find the time to tear it all apart and make some brackets for a 3rd gen cover i found. Thanks all for the help. Eventually i will get off my lazy A$$ and drill into my poor unsuspecting beast.k
