2nd Gen 4Runner HID Install

True - HID's add an immense amount of ponies. The fact is each ballast accounts for approximately 13HP gain. But dont take my word for it, I was told if you wear a visor upside down and backwards with the moon roof open you gain much more, and may even flirt with a 10sec 1/4 mile.

Sounds like your ballast is unable to fully strike the bulb. Swap the bulbs from left to right and try to rule out the bulb. If the left bulb illuminates the same in the front right; swap the ballast to the other side and test. Are you using a relay? You should always use a relay to prevent damage to your stock electrical system. Also, check both headlight fuses.

-What happens when you try your brights?
-How about the indicator for the brights on the dash?
-What do the fuses and their sockets look like?
Something most likely melted. See below:

you guys are all wrong hids dont give u more "hp's" fast and fancy stickers is where the real secret gain is at!... added my k&n sticker to my hood instant 35 horsepower at the crank... lol but on a serious note where did you get the 40$ hids at my head lights look like they dont come out like u would just replace the whole head light.. idk it just looks goofy .. i wanted to get the sylvannia ultra super white lights they have but those hids look better.. are they from ebay?

Since we are on the subject of HIDS! Yeah I have heard it all the blah blah blah of glare to bright this and that, since I've switched to a set of 9000K HIDSs in my 4runner back in 2005 I have never looked back nothing beats a set of HIDs lit up on a pitch black deer filled country roads in TX. They have been the best thing i have done for driving especially coming home to West TX, late at night. My job keeps me in San Antonio during the week and I usually take a 3 hour trek to get home. I will gladly take the glare of HIDs any day off the week compared to those crappy ass stock less than 700 lumens 35/55w 9004 lights. As for light output here is my latest setup I finished it during the holidays just haven't had time to post it up due to my latest headgasket job on her.

The headlights are 35w 9000K single beam 9004's, Procomp lightbar with 4 Hella 700FF's the top Hellas are currently setup with 55w 4300k and wired to work as my high beams setup thru the factory wiring harness so it indicates that my Hi-beams are on. The bottoms are setup with 55w3000k and might i add works really well in this fog we have here late at night and the recent snowstorm we had which I got caught in coming home from Lubbock. I was able to pull a factory foglight switch out of a camry a while back and figured out the wiring color code on the pigtail of the switch and placed it in one of the factory holes which fits perfect just like it came from the factory. I have it wired so the switch gets power and the fog light symbol painted on the switch gets illuminated when I turn the parklights on it allows me to turn them on independently from the headlights instead of having to twist the knob all the way on for the headlights. So here's the final output at night I basically have candlestick park setup in front of my 4runner.

W/ 9000ks low beams

w/55w8000k's Hellas and low beams on.

On a different back road with just 9000k lowbeams on

w/ the top set of Hellas on set as the highbeams in 4300k light range trying to compare because at this light range it is suppose to be the closest to daylight I might switch back to the 8000ks
3000k's turned on and aimed low and wide and at the farthest level of light output of my lowbeams just to increase my light coverage pattern which works great.

w/ both of them turned on along with the headlights!
A side shot because every shot from the front is just a blur.

Another up close. You can see where 9000k is at the point of a blueish tint. Enjoy I hope this helps you guys out in deciding on HIDs I personally think this is one of the best investments I did for the vehicle from a safety standpoint cause it really lets me see up ahead especially all the deer on the side of the road late at night.
