I thought the turbo 4runners with automatics had A340f transmissions.
the plate on my 86 4runner sayes H ??? will a 22re bolt up to a turbo
transmission??

 

you need to keep the stock "converter" bellhousing.

The 22RTE has a standard 4cyl bolt pattern, and the A340F (or A340H) have V6 bolt patterns.

 

This is the information I have, this won't tell you about the bolt pattern etc. Just the trans designation. It is common for transmissions to have different bolt patterns for different engines while having the same designation number.
