So i went to start up my truck and it wouldnt start. if i hold down the gas as im turnin it over it'll start and i can get it to sit at idle level, but i have to keep holding the gas pedal down other than that it seems fine, idk what the issue is. and suggestions would be great

sounds like a possible vacuum issue. check that first as its the easiest/ cheapest place to start. maybe tps? also has it been tuned up recently? if so maybe a bad/ loose wire or spark plug. just some ideas to get started

Vacuum issue was my first thought but I double checked all my lines and could'nt find any leaks. The plugs and wires are brand new.

I think now that its my fuel pump, I sprayed some carb cleaner into the intake and it tried to fire up, i'll probably take care of that tomorrow

oh, and i forgot to mention that shortly after my original i attempted to start the truck by holding the pedal down and that doesnt work anymore. It'll just crank and try to start once and just keep turning over

Have you checked the timing, it could have jumped on the gear. I have seen this many times if the tensioner sticks or if you run it low on oil it will not carry enough pressure to maintain tension on the chain and it will jump. Bought many an old toyota like that.

havent checked the timing yet, but i did jump the fuel pump today and it seems like i can hear it running, or trying to but it still wont start. trys to start if i spray carb cleaner or something into the intake trackt but other than that i've got nothin

ah, one other thing i forgot to mention, didn't think it would be that important but who knows.

So the truck ran fine about a week ago except for ones the elbow into the TB had a crack in it and was pulling in un-metered air causing a rough idle and stalling, but i fixed that then I started taking apart the exhaust side to check out the CT20 (which is in remarkably good condition, little shaft play, and no cracks on the exhaust side !) so i put everything back together and haven't been able to get it started since. i was planning on using it to drive to school this week cause its still hot as sin in Phoenix right now so if there are any other ideas I'm all ears.

any help is appreciated.
