the cap and rotor won't hurt nothing, might be time for a tune up anyways. But you'll have a better idea on whats going on after the ECU is cleared, and you pull the codes. Lemme know what you find out, and what codes (if any) you get. I'll look them up in my factory shop manuals for you....

well your truck needs fuel, spark, compression to run. And you said you've got good compression. So that leaves fuel and spark. did you hear the fuel pump running when you jumped it? pull the afm out and like it was suggested make sure the flapper door isnt' stuck. And just to be super clear... when it wont start... it cranks over right? as in the starter engages and spins the motor? Just want to make sure we're on the same page. Did the shop tell you why they thought it was the ignition switch?

We Fuel was checked and spark was also checked... Both were good.. We check the fuel by un hooking the line after the filter to make sure it was pumping, I suggested doign it your way but my dad did it the other way.

heres the deal.... that tells me really nothing as far as fuel goes. The system may be priming.. but not running... jump the fuel pump at the diag. port. and see if you can hear the pump running. if yes then try starting it.

Have you checked the cam timing, makeing sure the valves are in time with the dist and cam?
When you turn it over, chek for air coming from the tailpipe?Put your hand over the pipe and blocked off completely.
Havr you shot a quick blast of starting fluild into the intake and tried to start it?

it might be a dirty or bad mass air flow sensor.i was trying to start a 91 22re that had been wrecked, the air intake tube was off and it wouldn't hit at all. we replaced the tube and it started right up.

Already checked alll my wiring and grounds. It was an intermitten issue but now its a wont start at all problem... But i went through all the wiriing and it was all good to go. Im wondering the kill switch that is on it is messed up but the way its wired it wouldnt even attempt to start if its engaged so im not sure how that would effect it. Once again does anyone know if the comp is fried would it cause nothing to work or woudl it cause it to turn over and not start?

stick to the basics! FUEL SPARK COMPRESSION!!!! your dads way of checking for fuel is no go! jump the fuel pump listen for running then try starting with fuel pump hot. Also, not being a dick.. but.. does the truck have gas?

Ok so I read the codes... I got 21 and 43 which I looked up and the options are..
21 Oxegen sensor/signal, open or short in oxegen sensor or oxegen sensor signal
43 Starter signal-no "STA" signal to ecu until engine speed exceeds 800RPM, engine switch/cercuit, ECU...
So Im not quiet sure where to start with this all..

i'm no mechanic... but a short sounds like a wiring problem. check to make sure the O2 sensor wire isnt burnt through or touching the exhaust.
