22re won't start....

1993 4runner 22re cranks but won't fire. It will however start when the clutch is popped but it runs rough and dies, unless you stay on the gas. However after the truck has reached normal operating temp it will idle fine but still has to be pop started. this problem has just started today. A re-occuring problem that may or may not be related and I'm still trying to chase down is the rough idle when shifting. Before when it would start on its own the RPM's would jump when shifting, and bad. But when at normal operating temp it still jumps but not as bad and only with moderate to heavy acceleration. any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful, thank you for your time.

check to make sure your egr is operating properly, that all of the vac lines are attached to it and that the two bolts and one nut are tight on the head. Next thing i'd look at is the air flow meter. check that your flex fittings aren't cracked and letting in air. i just fixed the same thing on my brother-in-laws truck. he was whining about it running like crap and i had it fixed in about 10 minutes. grab a volt meter and check the resistance on the amf. if there is ANY leak here your truck will almost not run. i've got $.01 that says that's the cause. make sure all of your plugs are snug. it sounds to me like you have a vacuum leak somewhere in your system. it's usually something stupid like that. make sure your radiator is topped off too.
