22re wont idle

Hey guys. Need some help. Just got a rebuilt long block. 22 re for 87 pickup. Set crank at tdc and install dist at #1. It started up and moved dist to make it run smooth and adjusted idle to 700. When I check timing it is about 1 or 2 inches before timing tab. Try to get it to 5 degrees but it wont run. Any ideas. Thanks Greg

Is that with, or without, the jumper in the test connector?
If it's without, you should have the timing at 12° before TDC. WITH the jumper in, it's 5° BTDC.
This is all at the correct idle speed, of course. You have to set the idle speed before you set the timing with the jumper in. With the idle set correctly, the idle speed should drop slightly when you install the jumper in the test connector. This because the jumper causes the ECU to set the timing back from the normal 12° to the 5° point.

Hope this helps a little...

This thread may shed some light, ended up being the timing light but many ideas of what it could be:
