22re swap no start
ok time to ask the guru's. LOl
I picked up a 88 4x4 pu with a siezed motor.
I had an 86 4x4 pu with a good 22re.
I swapped motors this week.
What I did when I pulled the motor from the 86 was to unplug the ecm and pulled the harness out of the cab so it stayed with the motor. Did the same with the junk motor I pulled from the 88. (the 88 had no ecm)
I have everything hooked back up and it will start with starting fluid but will not stay running. NO FUEL
This pu has a brand new from Toyota tank, pump and pu assy, sending unit.
I also changed the filter before I put the motor in.
Now on this 86 motor and harness there is no diagnostic connector.
Should I changed the harness from the 88 motor onto the 86 motor. Could this be the problem? And if I do do you think the 86 ecm will still work or will I be looking for another ecm.
Thank you all for any help on this. I'm trying to save some time. I don't have alot of it lately.

Yes the 86 ecm is connected. The 88 pu was missing the ecm. (it's been sitting for a few years)
The ecm mounts behind the pass. side kick panel.
I'm being lazy tonight also. LOL. I've had enough. Going out tonight. Check out the eye candy. LOL

Given what you've done it has to be something simple.
Also, did the ECM plug in easily, no bent pins for sure?

so, your running a 86 computer with 88 harness/injectors?
i think they changed the impedance rating on the injectors in 88, that may be your problem but I'm not 100% sure

No. I pulled the motor from a 86. I left the 86 harness on the motor and pulled the ecm from the 86 also.
I put the motor in with the 86 harness and ecm into an 88.
I got it going today. I went thru and got all my spare relays etc. replaced them all and still no run. I went and got another tank I had from a v6 and hooked it up. It started and ran. The pump was the problem even tho it was new but the truck has been sitting about 3 years. Changed the pump out, all set now.
I just wasn't sure with using the 86 engine harness and ecm in an 88 truck if something else needed to be swapped too.
I may end up done the road getting a 88 ecm and changing the engine harness to the 88 harness. The 86 harness has NO diagnostic connector for some reason.
Thank you for the help.
