22RE surging at normal op. Temp

my 93 22re surges when idling at normal operating temperature. Funny thing is it surges between 750 and 1250 when I'm on the brakes then when I let off the brakes it jumps between 1500 and 2000. New head gasket and thermostat, cooling system recently flushed. Any ideas?

You need to turn your idle down some. Search around and you will find tons of threads on the topic.

If after adjusting your idle and it still does not fix your problem, then test the TPS.

My bet is on the idle being out of spec.

Also check your AAV(auxiliary air valve) or Idle control valve(lots of names for the same thing)

Thats what caused my idle surge. It was stuck open, making my idle surge as soon as my thermostat opened.

There are lots of things to check
