22re stiffner bracket ? little help please....
Please do not make me tell the very LONG story about why I am missing parts after the rebuild.
Finally get a cherry picker last night and I'm wedging the 22re back into my 1986 4runner, and I'm missing a few things. The STIFFNER bracket on the drivers side, the shields? (whatever they're called) that cover the fly wheel and allow the motor and tranny to bolt up.
Yes, I have the tranny bolts.
No, I do not have these shields, or stiffner bracket.
Are there two (2) shields, upper and lower ? My manuals do not go into great detail about this.
I know I'll be in the yards this weekend looking for them. Anyone got a decent pic or link for me ? Or perhaps you'd care to donate to an idiot in need ?
Any info you have will help.
Thanks, Krusty

Not sure what you are talking about. I think you mean the 2 brackets that bolt to the side of the engine that give you a few of the mounting holes?

The part is called a stiffener plate. They cost $70 from Toyota, but I got mine free from a guy parting out his truck. Its pretty easy to remove, only takes about 5min. The right one is different from the left side.
This is the only picture I can find, the plate is visible in front of the bellhousing, on the passenger's side.
