22re puffs white smoke new engine!
Okay. Just rebuilt my engine. Put new gasket on intake (cleaned it off and made sure it was straight and VERY clean and the head too!) and tightened it down. Started my engine...and its puffing white smoke for a solid 2-3 minutes. No oil in antifreeze and no antifreeze in oil. Both are fine...but its using antifreeze quite a bit. Its also leaking antifreeze out of the intake. I'm guessing its leaking antifreeze into the intake...now how do I fix this? Can I put two gaskets on the intake? Put grease on the gasket?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Do NOT put two gaskets on it. Grease, also no.
You need to take the intake and have it surfaced, then put a factory gasket on there. Those aftermarket POS gaskets are known to leak.

Seriously didn't forget to do anything. lol. Put everything back together. Torqued everything possible. Ran into a couple problems (removing pilot bearing) and thats about it. For some reason everything seems to leak on this damn truck. lol.
I've worked two days solid on this thing. I've made sure I did everything right. It starts pretty well though...just like it would normally. Just I'm pretty sure its sending antifreeze straight into the intake and need to know how to fix it. I really don't want to take my intake to the machine shop but I probably will have to. Thanks

Okay I'll save you time. Yeah antifreeze probably "could" run through that straight into the intake and right into the engine. But...antifreeze is also leaking out of the top/bottom of the intake so I'm pretty sure its going straight into the engine too.

Haha! Anyway...I took off the upper intake plenum and coolant is just sitting in the #1 runner (closest to the front of the truck). I bought a new gasket...and WOW...its definitely "better" in terms of it has rubber type rings around each hole and looks like it will actually hold something. Looks like OEM wins again! ha!
