Please, for the love of god, use punctuation. I'm getting a headache reading this super-relevant thread, since I'm about to fire up my 87 22re rebuild this weekend, and don't want to run into the same problem you are.

I've never heard of this before...? TPS usually never go bad, they just need adjustment.

Your TPS may help to fix your problems, but your ignition timing being off will still make it have no power. You still haven't answered how you know your cam and ignition timing are correct.

any sensor can go bad. When I had my 73 satellite I pulled 3 altenators right off the shelf and had them test them before I bought them and they were all bad. If your getting a headache then get some glasses LOL

For some weird reason, I know how this will end.

x2 on the timing vote.

My experience with TPS's and throttle bodies is that they rarely ever fail, typically they just need a good cleaning and calibration -- my 86 is a perfect example, not sure it ever got any love until this year, made a tremendous difference. Having a new one fail right out the box is especially uncommon.

Ok new TPS fixed it runs great now and has the power I kinda thought it would. Now I just need to get a header so I can get rid of the exaust leak. A TPS can go bad just like any other think on a car/truck. Could not adjust my old one no matter what I did so I bought a new one (once I got the second new one) and bam it works good now

Stanz I called LCEngeniering (when I bought the first TPS) and they said that it is more common than you think to get a bad one right out of the box

Anything's possible, but always keep in mind that calibration can also be a culprit for new parts.

Sorry, but TPS does not fix a power issue. Correcting the timing does. I knew where you were going with this before you probably knew.

For future searchers, putting a new TPS will not magically fix a power lag in the upper RPM's. It's impossible quite frankly. Making sure the ignition timing is correct, however, will fix a power lag by making the dizzy fire at the correct time.

Well anybody is welcome to come by and we can put on the old TPS and then the new one and see for yourselfs LOL. Yes the timing was a little off when I put the new one on (instead of 5 deg it was at 0) and adjusted it because the old one was not letting me adjust the timing right, but it was not off by much. In my experience with machanics anything is possible LOL

I declare this thread done. Drunner, I believe you in that you got a bad TPS. Not trying to ride you on this.
