Hey Guys!

So I just had a new head gasket replaced, head resurfaced, block is good (at least it appeared to be) and it's not over heating anymore, however, there is antifreeze running off my oil pan and dripping onto the ground, I'm only 5'5 and I can't seem to really be able to trace the leak back to anywhere, where I am CERTAIN it's coming from... however it is a little wet around the timing cover, water pump area... but I don't think that's where it is coming from seeing the amount of antifreeze running off my oil pan is quite a bit.... but I am also not loosing much antifreeze from my radiator??? can someone help please

 

My truck is lifted, it's hard for me to really get under the hood although I can but ot's kinda difficult ha!

 

I just used a poof (dusting) of baking powder to pinpoint a leak. maybe give that a shot.

 

check the heater Line that bolts to the back side of the timing cover those bolts often get over looked in the torque down process

 

Always tricky to find those leaks. Wipe the whole thing down as best you can, then run it in the driveway til it gets up to temp. I like 92Toy's baby powder idea but you'll want everything to be clean to pinpoint that leak. Don't drive it because the leak can blow around and make it harder to find. Get an inspection mirror to look in the really hard to see places. My leak was coming from the hose-to-timing cover connection but the only way I could see it was with a mirror.

 

I just found a similar leak, was dripping off my skid pan. It was a loose hose clamp, right above the alternator and below the distributor, probably the same hose-to-timing cover connection as described above. You can see it if you put your head over the power steering reservoir and look towards the back of the alternator. I couldn't get to the screw on the clamp so I ended up cutting the old clamp off with my Dremel and putting a new clamp on. All fixed...

 

You can rent a pressure tester at most auto parts stores. Helped me pinpoint my leak. It ended up being a pinhole leak on the upper radiator hose.

 

Did you remove the water pump from the timing cover at all? If you did, did you replace the gasket and clean the surfaces really well? Or did you try to RTV it?
