22RE Headers Pros v Cons

What are the pros and cons to adding headers to my 4rnr? And what are the best brands of headers? Thanks!

Says in the title for a 22re

Best is a toss up between the LC engineering and the Thorley.
Pros: Better exhaust flow if paired with bigger full exhaust
Cons: Cost to HP gain

To me to little gain for the money spent.

Now if your going the whole 9 yards building the engine with new cam ,over size valves, and a 2 1/4" complete exhaust system with high flow cat.

then there part of the complete package .

Although I am not sure why anyone would build a 22 R series unless it was for a Celica.

Stock will be quieter, less heat into the engine bay.

Header will be easier to weld up for a quick fix.

I have the LC Engineering Header, high flow cat and Borla cat back system, Sounds good, nice little rumble, Deff louder, not much of a difference in performance gains. but high in the coolness factor. :-D

Pros;
1. Looks cooler

2. Sounds cooler

3.slight hp gain

4.not cast iron

5.chicks will dig it. Seriously, once they know, they will be throwing their panties at you constantly.

Cons:

1.can fall apart fairly quick if cheap/poor quality

2.some can be hard to get to seal right. (Again quality)

3.if you wheel in the mud a lot,you get a lot of mud caked, then cooked in where all 4 pipes meet and can cause it to rust out.

4.there is no cons to a header! Header= like at least 150 more horsepower and makes more wwrrrennn noises.

I Tried the lc header. Not bad, but leaked from the collector after 20,000 miles. Plus it came loose at the head sometimes. Now I have a stock manifold with a 2.5" down pipe into a 2.5" stainless fujitsubo system designed for a Honda and cut up to fit the truck.

This is a fantastic setup. Quiet, strong, good flow. I highly recommend the stock manifold with moded down pipe and full 2.5" or larger exhaust. The stock size exhaust is terrible. It will be hard to beat the stock manifold though, the upper portion anyways. This thing is made to last 200 years and flows as good as anything.
