~26mpg in aggressive mixed driving, ~29+ with conservative highway-only driving and no wind. Emphasis on the wind part...

got an '88 4runner all stock. I bought it with 33s on it and quickly changed to 235/75R15 to get some power back. It has 349,000 miles on it(with a top end rebuild at 314,000) and does mostly highway(backroads, some interstate). I checked my mpg two weeks ago and was getting 23.7. If I run the AC it drops some.

Im not really sure exactly because the speedo is so far off, but I got like 13 when i calculated at a fill up. not sure how much better it really is.

266K on a completely bone stock original engine never rebuilt and all orignial drivetrain.

86 Toyota 4runner SR5 22RE 5-Speed

I just put 1200 miles on my 89 4WD with 173K going from Utah to Montana and back with a loop in Montana, it averaged 18.5 MPG running at 70-73 MPG. The figures are kinda low due to head winds and more mountains on the return trip that the going up trip. They were in the mid 19's and low 20's on the trip up and the low 18's high 17's coming back down.

calculating fuel mileage?

How are you all with over-sized tires calculating fuel mileage? Larger tires will spin your odometer slower (less miles) than actually driven, giving you a false mpg.

For example: If your running 33" tires and your stock size is 29" your odometer will be reading 88% of what you've driven.

29/33 =.878

To compensate, multiply your miles by 33/29= 1.138

Come to think of it, not sure how you know what size tire your truck's speedo was calibrated for?

Anyone know?

I get 20mpg on E-15, 24mph non-ethanol gas and keeping my foot off the skinny pedal.

I do howerver get about 1/2-3/4 qt of oil per 300 miles, gotta figure that out.

Or divide miles driven by 0.878. Same result and eliminates a step.

Get the odometer error by various means(mile markers, GPS, etc.) and multiply your tire height by that decimal error percentage.

22re 4wd Ex Cab 5sp with 31's and over the past few months I have been averaging 19 mpg combined. I used get much better mpg's with the exact same set up. Perhaps I have a bad 02 censor because everything else I can think off is in good shape. Perhaps its time to remove the CAT. I heard of others who have increased their mpg by doing this.
