22Re feeels like it has turbo lag?

I have a 95 truck with the 22RE and 125,000 miles on it. The engine when cold or when it warms up has this hesitation that feels like turbo lag especially when acceleration in 2nd and 3rd gears and I don't really notice it in first gear. I have cleaned the TB assembly, replaced the plugs and wires, cap and rotor (all factory parts) and adjusted the timing to 5 deg. BTDC as it recommends but its still there. I also have checked for vacum leaks with propane and carb cleaner but didn't notice anything. Any ideas would be helpfull. Thanks

did you make sure to jump the correct terminals on the diagnostics box before you set the timing? if not, you have severely retarded the timing and it'll drive like a dog.

Yes I jumped the terminals as the manual had specified.

Mine did that and it was the TPS and the AFM. Both were replaced and no more problems.

I checked the resistance of the TPS and the AFM per the manual and it seems to check out OK. Any other ideas before I take it in to the shop.

try puting the timing at 10* at our altitude we have less effective compression and can get away with a higher base. i run mine at 15* and can run cheap gas without a ping if i want. if you cant figure it out pm me and ill come help you out

I took the base timing to 10deg and it made a WORLD of difference! Thanks for the help.
