22RE Engine Light Question

I just put together a 22RE into my 86 4Runner. However, it will not start. The will motor will crank, but will not fire, or at least not for more than 1 second. I noticed the engine light does not come on when I turn the key to the on position. Any ideas on why this is happening or could it be related to the no start condirtion? I thought the light should illuminate until the truck is running then cut off as long as there are no faults. Thanks in advance.

I checked the connectors and they seem tight and fully engaged. In addition, I swapped in another ECU earlier mostly cause I had it with the same result. Thanks though as the EFI stuff is new to me on the Toyotas. I ran a carb for too long.

I had the same problem after I swapped motors, turns out the ECM wasn't getting "ignition on power" to turn the ECM on. - - check all your fuses and make sure all the ground wires are hooked up, make sure your fuel pump relay is sending power back to the tank

"...fires briefly...", that somehow sounds familiar! Unplugged TPS?

Sounds more like the AFM unplugged... seen it happen more than once, all with the same results; runs just fine for a sec or two, then just dies... sometimes just stutters out like it's running out of gas. Truth is, it does run out of gas. If the AFM's unplugged, the fuel pump will shut off after starting and kill the motor...

Thanks for all the help. Apparently it was the transplanted SR5 cluster. The cluster was from a carb truck (I had forgotten) and did not have the bulb installed for the engine light. I swapped back the original one and the engine light illuminates as it should.

Still trying to figure out why it will not fire. Fuel pressure is good, cranks over with starting fluid, air flow meter checks good, TPS checks good, still going through the wiring.

TPS Maybe?

I checked the main relays and ciurcuit opening relay and both were good. However, I have a code 11. I checked the TPS again and do not have any resistance between IDL and E2 (should be 2.3K ohms I think) at the 0.0224 gap. All other checsk were good. In addition, when I ran a reisitance check at the ECU connector for resistance between IDL and E2, I had an open with both throttle valve in fully open and fully closed. One was supposed to be near 0 (I can not recall which). I ran a continuity check of the wiring (IDL and E2) from the ECU connector to the TPS conncector and it checks fine. Therefore, I think it is the TPS. Any thoughts as they are expensive from the dealer, but afraid to get them elsewhere as my truck will be used heavily off road and need reliability? Thanks in advance again for all the help.
