Thumbs down 22re ECU Help

Hey everyone this is my first time posting on this site. I love all the stuff I have picked up so far but this i am kind of stuck on. Are the ECU's from a 90 to 95 4runner interchangeable? My buddy is having some serious problems with his rig. I have a spare romputer and i was wondering if they are the same. Mine spare is 4X4 manuel his rig is 4X4 Auto thanks in advance

You really need two things:
1) The factory service manual
2) Compare pins on the ECU.

I know that the 1993 had at least 3 different ECUs.
4wd manual
4wd auto
2wd

They're pinned differently and have different connectors, so you can mix 'em up.

However, earlier toyotas sometimes have the same connectors and different pins - IE the 86 turbo and 87-88.

Basically, I'd need to see a pin out of your connector and compare that to the pin out of the 1995.

Something like this diagram below:

It's likely that they would work, but check before making an electrical disaster...
