Hey everyone, I’m doing my head gasket and finally got everything cleaned up and put back together for reassembly but my cylinder walls are looking pretty funky. I believe they’re stains from brake/carb cleaner and thought it would wipe right off when the time came but unfortunately that’s not the case. This if my first time digging this deep into an engine so I don’t really know if this is normal/acceptable or what I need to do to clean it. Really not looking to hone this thing, I’ve had it apart long enough and don’t want to dig in to the bottom end so please tell me this thing’s ok or that there’s a simple solution.

Do you think i can sub out acetone for brake cleaner? Don’t have any acetone on hand.
