22RE Coolant Blowout - Need Suggestions

The 22 Re on my 87 runner keeps blowing the antifreeze out of the reservoir. It will suck the antifreeze out of the radiator but then the reservoir gets full and it just pushes it out of the overflow tube and all over the highway. I replaced the radiator and waterpump a couple of months ago and I also tried to change the T-stat but I broke a bolt off (it is still sealed) so I have not changed the stat yet. Any suggestions or opinions on why it would push the antifreeze out are appreciated. Thanks, Andrew

What is the temp getting to?
thinking the motor is getting hot, so it is pushing the water out the over flow not sucking it. If there is a air leak into the system, that could cause it to push the water out the over flow also.

When you run the motor, after it is warm, get out pop the hood and feel the water hoses. They will bne hot so careful, but feel the top/bottom rad. hoses, then thetwo that go into the fire wall and hook the the heater core. All should be the same temp. I'm thinkin g you top rad hoses is not heating up like the rest. If I'm right...that would be the stat.

Just thoughts for ya.

The engine temp on the gague in the cab never goes above halfway. It will heat up to normal (about halfway on the gague) and then drop back down some.

That's a sign of a blown headgasket on the exhaust side.
