22re Code 12 24 and 31

so, Headgasket went on my 88 22re tore it all apart got it all back together.

go to crank the truck it fires runs for a few seconds then dies. same thing everytime. thought maybe my dizzy was off a tooth but after moving it a tooth it didnt even fire. so i moved it back and it fires runs for 2 seconds dies. sounds like it should when it used to run. so i jumped the diagnostics and i get

Code 12 Rpm signal
Code 24 Intake air temp sensor
Code 31 Air flow meter

the code 12 i used to get once in a while before the headgasket went when it started and then died right away but usually started up again.

code 24 i havn't looked into yet and the code 31 my AFM tested okay on bench test when it came out of the truck a few weeks ago. I think the code 31 could also have something to do with the egr as well i could have read wrong. i kinda guessed on 2 or 3 of the vac lines, should have taken pictures but they seem to be where they are supposed to go

Anyone have any suggestions on where to start or any good diagrams of vac line routing etc? any help will be greatly appreciated

vacuum map is on the hood sticker, and in the book no need to guess just work through it.

code 12 is your primary issue. Double check the wiring from the Igniter to the ECM, clean solid connections. Since it starts then dies the signal is getting from the distributor to the igniter but it's not making it to the computer. Wouldn't hurt to check the plug on the distributor is clean and a solid/tight connection but it's likely a problem between igniter and computer.

For the other two codes same thing make sure the connectors are clean and the femal side of the spade connectors are tight. Once that is done verify the voltage at the computer and that the plugs are fully seated and you should be fine. If the connections are clean and firm and the AFM passes the checks it's going to be a damaged wiring harness, and you have my sympathy cause it's not fun for most people.

Don't forget to make sure your grounds are clean and firm also, easy to do and solves lots of intermitten wiring problems.

I dont have thr vac diagram on the hood anymore which sucks. I thibk i discovered whats hooked up wrong for vac lines which is a quick fix. As far as the rpm signal i hope its just a loose plug. Fingers crossed haha
