22RE to 5VZ

Has anyone here done a 22RE to 5VZ swap? My 22RE is gone, and I don't know if I'll find another one I can actually use since I don't have the old parts to switch to an LC engineering long block. Junkyard 22REs are growing ever more rare. Don't want to get rid of my truck, so now I'm exploring a 3.4 swap. Does anyone know of any shops that do it? If not, I'd do it myself.

I did it on my 88. I have a build thread on here but all the pics are gone. The best advice I can offer is to get a running donor. And if you want to stay with a manual trans, it will be better if the donor is manual. I got a LOT of parts off my donor that saved me time and money. I parted out what I didn't need and that paid for a lot of parts.

I think there are ways to trick the ECM if all you can find is an automatic trans donor but I can't offer any advice with that.

Another popular swap is a 3RZ. I still say to get a running donor to ensure you get everything you may need.

Good luck with whatever you decide.
