Exclamation 22r jumps time please help!!!

im new to the sight please help me i have a 1986 toyota 4 wheel drive pickup and i was driving the other day and she just shut off and as usual when your truck dies the worst comes to mind i was thinking it jumped a tooth on the timing chain but it is a brand new motor with 658 miles on it every thing in it is brand new except the distributor i got it home and pulled the valve cover off and the timing chain is tight and all my marks still line up for timing but the distributor was out of time on the firing so i piddled with it and got it back to running and it just shut off again i think it is the vacuume advance because i can pull the hose off and it does not run any diffrent.could the diaphram be messed up and causing that? any help will be appreciated thanks!

Maybe the advance plate in the distributor is sticking?

So you are able to start it back up & the engine will run? But the engine will die?
Correct?
