22R-E Problems

Need help!! My 86 4Runner won't accelerate past 45mph, struggles to get over tiny 2ft high hills, bad idle for the first ten to 15 minutes and very poor acceleration. Help me out with any suggestions guys, I've already changed the clutch. Thanks.

Won't go past 45 mph if you're lucky it might be the fuel pump.

I had similar symptoms. Was the fuel pump for me. Check the fule filter, too, or you'll shred a new pump pretty quickly due to backpressure.

Dang, 45mph and it can even climb hills... lucky. . I wish mine went that fast, i mean it might but with the shaking and tranny wine i am afraid any day the entire truck is going to grenade. j/k, these things should go a little faster than that. check the obvious things first, ie. plugs, wires, timing, the way i figure it if it is free why not take a look? and if it is cheep why not replace?

Also check 02 sensor, mine was bad and my truck had many of the same problems, bad warm up and no power.

my '79 would take a couple of miles to hit 50mph when i first bought it. turned out to be the fuel filter, a $3 part that made all the difference in the world!

Change your fuel filter. i just changed mine and it fixed all my problems, my CEL would come on and give me a code for my Mass Air Flow Sensor, so i changed that and nothing helped. so it turns out it was the fuel filter, my truck would hesitate, and loose ppwer so thats prolly what it is
