200k Maintenance

Hey all. The old 92 3.0 is coming up on 200k and I am thinking of treating it too a little maintenance. The head gasket was replaced about 10k ago and the rear axle seal was also replaced not quite a year ago. I have a small oil leak at what I think is the oil pan, but not positive on that. I would like to see this truck get to 300k so I am looking for some info on what others have done at 200k or might just need to be serviced anyways. Any info would be great. Thanks

Tune up maybe. Timing belt if it wasn't done with the head job. Fix your oil leaks. Replace your coolant. In general, replace fluids.

2x on fluids. Also, grease your drive shaft using a grease gun on the zerk fittings. Probably the most overlooked maintenance item, especially if you take it off-road. Look in the FSM under maintenance. Actually, just read this whole section: http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...intenance.html

Other things to check (and replace if bad):
  • Spark plug wires
  • Cap and rotor
  • Spark plugs
  • PCV valve and grommet (if you're taking off the air chamber to get at valve covers, otherwise don't bother)
  • Clean throttle body
  • Inspect hosing: the rubber starts to break down over time
  • Check drive belts
  • Oxygen sensor every 90k or so, no way to check if going bad though

all that good stuff in the engine bay like stated already, but then you'll want to make sure the chassis/suspension is all good too or a running engine gets you nowhere - so repack wheel bearings, grease everything that moves especially in your steering, change gear oil, if you're still on original suspension parts (like shocks, steering stabilizer, idler arm bushings, rod ends, etc) you may consider replacing them since they are 20+yrs old now.
