The reason is that I am thinking of putting a Milford cargo barrier into my Gen1 4Runner.

I realize that the Gen1 appears to have a "lower" floor - so thats not a huge issue.
But I want to have an idea of how the seat backs differ...
I will get you a couple pics tomorrow after I run to the dump and do a bit of a detail job on it plus it will show the fire extinguishers attached

Lets see some pics of the setup. How much was the total cost on this little project?

Sorry for not getting these up sooner but I was surrounded by 100 redskins fans in DC wearing my SEAHAWKS JERSEY watching them best ass whopping this season ya I was a bit nervous but so fun getting to do the in your face dance on the table of the bar and all them redskins fans coming up shaking my hand and having to say congratulations and I bet I could get everyone here a free drink with all the bar chips I got for the win. Anyway back on track
So far without the paint I have $55 bucks into it
$35 for the rollbar
$20 for the fire extinguisher's
1 1/2hrs. into the cutting , welding , drilling and installing
1/2 into the drilling and mounting of the fire extinguisher's
So now on to the pic's and oh ya GO SEAHAWKS!!!!!!

Thanks on both counts the speaker's were a no brainer when I decided I wanted boom and not to lose storage room so I got the best of worlds this way. Plus the storage compartment's were dead space so I figured it would put the space to good use.

Marc, i think i know why but why?

It would be nicer if it hugged the interior walls a little closer but it's great for attaching accessories. Can't beat a cheap and easy mod thats functional and still looks good.

I really like the dual extinguishers.

in short,

they hold the nbc suit that is issued to US ground forces.

That nice charcoal lined camo suit that you pay like $300 for at the sporting goods store they call "Scent-Lok".

Thing is like an oven in the summer, and one of the lightest, warmest cold weather pieces for the winter.

BTW - whats the clearance between the top of the bar and the headliner?

i.e. why do you have to cut off 2.7" off the bar?
Does the Gen2 roof curve in more than the Gen1?
Is the roof lower/floor higher on the Gen2?

olharleyman, have you looked underneath the rear seat(other side to the jack) to see if someone could cut out the top and turn it into storage? and nice job, i might do that to mine, they got a junk 1st gen down here.

I belive the 1st gen roof is higher then the 2nd gen but the biggest reason is the wheel well hight is different
