1st Gen motor question

Does anyone know if an LC Eng. 22re motor with Lc header can be put in a 1st gen yota ? I had a yota mechanic friend of mine say no. I asked why not and he said the motor is too bulky and big and you would have to cut a bunch of the frame out.
??
