I'm planning on doing the same thing. Just keeping the lid on my center console, but dropping a block of wood in it with holes cut out for cup holders, so when I'm not using it I'll have the normal center console.

I bought the custom cup holder on EBAY, it was shipped from San Diego. I cut mine down and painted it crinkle black. It is a real quality made item.

30-06 brass and m13 links in a circle work great for a cup holder, filed mine with lead, takes a lot to tip over. Pic soon if i can figure how to post it.

I have one of those hats with a spot for a can on each side and a straw to drink hands free. I usually use that, but beer foams up too much so I usually end up dumping out 3/4ths of a coke and filling the rest with whiskey

I got cheap walmart ones and screwed them into the back of my center console/armrest. the plastic broke so I've used both zip ties and duct/electrical tape to reinforce them. they hold my giant coffee cup just fine

I use this:

Not only does it hold my cup, it has a total of 4 cupholders, a locking compartment, loose change organizer, and different sized compartments for other stuff. Not too mention, it matches my interior.

That looks very nice. What year range of Tacomas have that? Does the shift bezel meet nicely at the 4Runner console? And do I spy seat heater switches on the dash above the radio?
