OK, so I drove my 1995 Toyota pickup 4 cyl. this weekend, and I went to drive it a day later and it won;t start. The starter never makes a sound. The ignition turns on like normal, and the clock dims when I try to start the motor, but the head lights don't dim when I try to start it.
I connected jumper cables to it, and had the other engine running but still nothing. I checked all of the fuses and they are ok.
The only other things I can think of are the starter relay or the wiring to the starter itself.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to sell it and it doesn't help when it won't start.

If it is the starter, they can be rebuilt easily and cheaply. First, see if you're getting voltage to the starter.

 

rebuild the starter. need $5 copper contacts and a $10 plunger.
done.

 

Check the obvious first, in order; there must be 4,000 posts on this topic:

1. Check ALL ground wires for positive, clean, rust-free connection (this will require removing & cleaning them), to include battery to frame, frame to engine, and battery to ECU/fusebox.

2. Double check connections to the starter itself.

3. Check the starter relay inside the truck (fuse box).

4. Check your key switch. it may be worn out.

4. You can get a contact rebuild kit (to orders/parts) from the dealer for about $22, which is THE way to go. DO NOT trade your quality Toyota starter for an Autozone/Advance/Napa POS. Removing the starter is a PITA so search here for the MANY who have done it before!
