1995 spark, but no start, no codes, fuel pump running. Help!

Well started out bought it dead, changed SP wires, then diagnosed starter was dead. Seemes like it wanted to start, backfired couple times but wont catch. Verified spark by removing wire and checking, Tried starter fluid no luck.
Checked for codes, no codes...
Ideas?

jumped the fuel pump sounded like ut was running while jumping but maybe not without, no start either way, did not check for compression or fuel pressure. I got no way to test for compression. does seem like a fuel issuue but tried starter fluid and no go.,

Almost every major auto parts store has a free tool rental program.

Has spark, doesn't start with starting fluid, has backfire/afterfire..

Check your timing and compression, double check your new wires are in the right spots.

Does the air pipe from throttle body to the AFM have a crack in it? If you disconnected this air pipe to introduce starter fluid to the throttle body the fuel pump will not run if the AFM flapper is not getting vacuum from the engine when you crank it.

Pay attention to Co_94 and ignore everyone else for now. You verified that with fuel (starting fluid) it only backfires.
The next thing to check is timing since you know it gets spark, (otherwise it wouldn't backfire) now you need to know that the spark is at the right time.
If it is, you're down to checking compression.
By the way, help us help you, tell us what engine you have. Preferably in your first post with a question you should state year/make/model/engine/trans, it will save time in the long run.
