it may be a toyota, but it is still a machine with a limited life span. The more you abuse it, the shorter its lifespan.

If you dunk it, you ALWAYS change ALLLLL fluids! ALL OF THEM! Coolant, powersteering fluid, oil, tranny fluid, differential fluid, etc....

As much as I hate to be a dick like this, but your Uncle is rolling in his grave. I know I'd be if someone did that to my truck... However if it got rebuilt I think he'd be happy again, particularly if you learned from the mistake...

Good luck

hehehe glad to hear you are sticking with it!

I've sworn to stand by my toyota untill the day I cease drawing breath. I am glad I am not in solitude in making such bonds!

How did the speedline motor turn out for you? I may be in the market for a rebuilt 22RE, and since they're local, I'm interested to see how things went with your truck.

its a shame, but hey stuff happens. good luck with that new motor. now a question for anyone who reads this. i have a 88 yoda with a 22RE that just hit 250,000 miles. for the past 75,000 miles (since ive owned it), i have kept up with the oil changes, tune ups, flushes, etc. whats the life expectancy of these engines? it seems to be running strong as ever, but i dunno. im just glad i didnt give it a few gulps of river water no rivers that i know of out here in ole lost wages.

under for waaaay too long. i dont want to be on water any longer than the time it takes to cross it. and that's only if i have to and because i've walked it myself. this is hard lesson that i hope i dont have to learn in water, especially water with current. always walk it, and if your friend is too lazy to go walk it, do it yourself. if in doubt, get out. it took me a while to get that one, unfortunately you learned this lesson a lot quicker and under worse circumstances.

so did you check the other fluids? tranny, transfer case, diffs to make sure they didn't get drowned too?

Depends, but I have met a woman with 600,000mi's+ on her '84 pickup. Still going, as far as I know.
