1994 4Runner Check Engine Light

Code 71 California only,which my truck is not.EGR temp sensor code, and performed tests and everything checked good,components and wiring.So question is what resister can I use to put in after I unplug the harness to get light to go out?Just like a Egr delete but not blocking it off so not to lose any power.

If you have the "harness" for the EGR Temp Sensor, it's a "California" truck. The very best kind, where ever you live.

Rather than try to "fool" the ECM into thinking your EGR is working, why don't you just fix the EGR?

Well I have a new engine in it so went New everything at the same time. It has new egr valve,new vacuum hoses but did replace just the solenoid for the egr even though it checked ok. Wiring checked ok all back to computer,even swap for known good one. What else can I do?

Run the diagnostics.

One possible problem not mentioned in the manual is that you can get such an accumulation of "gunk" inside the plenum (mostly from the PCV system) that it blocks the EGR tube. When disconnected, the tube should slide right out, and have only a little "gunk" on it. If you can't pull it out, you may have found an issue.

I have found 7.5K @ 0.5 watt works on most.
Some need a 10k but not very often?
