1993 pickup What do ya think

I have a chance to buy this truck for about 2500-3000 bucks. What are your opinions? Look like a good deal? Any gotchas I should look into before buying? It is a 4Cyl\Auto drive train. I am a bit concerned that combo might be a little under-powered?
Thanks guys..

Looks good. Its got the typical clear coat failure and a small bit of rust. im assuming its a 22re due to the lack of V6 badges on the grill and tail gate. interior looks really clean. its also automatic... :/ Its got the manual hubs already too. i'd say 2500 bucks is pretty good without knowing the mileage? what's your plans for it?

Buy it. Offer $2500. That thing is solid.

Still though for a clean extra cab like that a 4cyl auto combo probably wouldn't be that bad, especially for the price.

That thing looks prrty clean Id say 2500 seems good would like to know milage though. Rust isnt to bad and interior looks really clean. only body damage i can see is on passanger side by the rear bumper but thats about it. maybe see if u can take the bug guard off cause water likes to collect in there and cause rust spots on the front of the hood.

I would also like to hear your plan for this truck if you get it.

Truck has 162,500 miles on it. Yes it is the 22RE engine. My plans would be to use it for a daily driver, and truck to take family fishing\camping in. I'd be selling my 98 accord to fund this truck. I have not had a chance to drive it or see the engine bay. I'll be doing all that this Sunday. Another reason to buy this truck or something like this is by the time my son is old enough to really start working on cars. This will probably need a restore. And it could trun out to be a great project for him and I.
Thanks guys!

A 4cyl/auto extra cab SR5 is a rare combo and a good find. Looks totally stock and not tampered with. Body is just about perfect except for roof.... the chassis has some rust but nothin a can of spray paint won't fix.... you can still see the factory frame painted numbers on there it has to have low miles.... i'd by it for about 2-2500. If its tuned right she will still get up and go but she won't be super fast at all....

haha yeah it will dog it. i would do a 5speed swap right away, i dont like auto's much and 22re with auto has too be the slowest thing on the road lol. but im sure if you drive around town with no hills and not expecting much for power it will work for you.

Buy it.

$2500 is a steal on this truck. 162k on a 22re is nothing. The paint looks great. It just as the typical clear coat failure... every truck has it, including my 92 4runner. It'll be a great commuter truck and plus with it being an auto, makes it even easier for the family to drive as well. You'll end up modding it. Is your son old enough currently to do a 5 speed swap? you both could start with that, if the automatic bugs you that much.

Just sand down the rust and paint on some rust converter of POR-15. I'd offer 2500 and see how it goes. The body is solid though for it's age. The auto may be slow, I have never owned one but I bet it will be better than a 3.0 auto any day.

For sure the tires do need replaced. A set of 31's would be the first thing I'd invest in. 31 is the largest tire I can fit on the stock 15 wheels correct? I have read that 32's and 33's rub a bit..

Anything over 235/75/15's are going to compromise gas mileage but I believe you can fit 33X10.50's without rubbing although I could be mistaken...That said, a nice set of 31 inch Yokohama geolander A/T'S would complement that truck nicely

Na my son is only 6. So that would be quite the project with him. I am pretty familiar with fixing rust. I have restored a 69 mustang fastback. And have replaced about 85% of it's sheetmetal. POR15 and Eastwoods Rust Encapsulator were my friends on all the new sheet metal

heh sadly, nope... it'll be worse :/ a 5 speed 22re is barely slower than an auto 3.0

33x10.50s and 32x11.50s fit 33x12.50s fit as well, but rub on turning, but a small lift can solve all of that. most people usually settle for 31x10.50s, its what I run on my 4runner but I'm upgrading to 33x12.50s on my next set of tires.

So, are you gonna buy the truck??!?!?!?!?

A 22re 5spd is better than any 3.0 combo any day though, do you disagree?
