1993 22re EFI Cold / Hot Problems
I have a 1993 Pickup 2wd 5speed manual with the 22re fuel injected engine, it has 115,000 miles.
When it is cold, below about 35F, it is really hard to start. To get it to start, I have to let it crank for a minute or so, then wait 5 minutes, and it fires right up. During driving in cold weather, it hesitates at lower rpms, mostly when pushing on the accelerator just after shifting.
When it is warm outside, or above 40f, it starts immediately cold. There is no hesitation while driving. The only problem when warm, is it is hard to start after sitting 15-30 minutes after hot. I have to let it crank for a few seconds, then crank it again and it fires right up.
All the ignition parts (plug wires, plugs and cap) replaced did not make any difference.
Anyone have suggestions?
Thanks

Sounds like a fuel delivery problem. Change your fuel filter and also check for fuel leaks along the line. The fuel pump only comes on when you are cranking.
