Hi folks,

I'm new to this forum, just wanted to say hi and ask a few questions.

I'm looking at buying a 92 truck, V6 4X4 this weekend, and wondered if there were any specific problems for this generation of trucks. I'm aware of the near legendary reliability of them, but just looking for an inside scoop of problem areas before I drive away with it.

My 3VZE engine (same as the one you are thinking of buying) has been reliable.

But make sure you know the history of the head gaskets on this engine. Has it been replaced under recall (it should have been). At what mileage?

Its a judgement call... or have a dealer look it over.

 

Also run a Carfax. It tells you a few things, but it is good to know where it has been, and if it's been salvaged.

I agree with looking into the Head Gasket issue. Other than that it should be very realiable.

One other thing, they call the 3.0 the 3.slow. So if you have a chance of getting into a 3.4 (Tacoma) I'd go that direction.
