1992 3.0vze with dead cylinder?
Ok, new to the site but not to the world of mechanics. I am wanting to know if anyone else has had this issue.
I have a 92 4x4 extended cab with an auto trans and the 3.0 vze. I just bought the truck and wanting to work out a few issues. The engine seems to run pretty good. The head gaskets have been done already and I have one vacumm line off. I found out where the vac lines goes which is to the bvsv so that will be no issue but, I still have this #5 cylinder issue.
I have pulled the plug and found that there is more than enough compression. I pulled the plug and found the plug it to be firing through the wire all the way down. I can take the wire off the distributor for #5 and there is no change in the running of the motor. I am leaning towards the fuel injector for #5 being clogged.
The truck was not driven alot and sat for about 2 weeks before I got it. It ran great when I test drove it but after driving it 2 hours home somewhere along the way it began the shaking because of the #5 cylinder not contributing.
Any ideas? Has anyone else had this issue?

That's what I was thinking. It's a pain to get to the odd number injectors under the plenum. I did get lucky and ended up with a full set of freshly rebuilt injectors including the 7th injector for less than $50. Just figured I would see if anyone else had the same issue. Thanks.

I would be thinking the same thing. I can't recall how hard it is to reach without walking outside and popping a hood, but able to reach it to just to tap it while running to see if it comes back around so you can yell "IT'S ALIIIIIVE" ?
