hi i got a question last year my head gasket went on my 91 pickup 3.0 litre. so we stripped it down and replaced that along with getting the heads plained etc. put it all back together and was really good for a few weeks. then i started to drip oil and it got worse and worse it was coming out of my camshaft seals so i replaced them as well it was good for a few weeks and then leaking again. i was told that my top end was now to strong for the bottom end of the engine. but then some other mechanic said that was a myth and told me to check my pcv valve. im in the process right now of changing the valve(very hard to get out! rubber is very hard!) does anyone tink that this valve could be plugged causing all the head preassure to push oil out of the seals....or am i looking at something major?

The 3vze pcv is a lot of work to get to on this motor just like all the other parts except for the radiator cap..yes it's possible that pcv can be plugged up....once you get the pcv out, I would just replace it along with the hose since your all ready at it....then you haven't done all that labor for nothing.....cheap parts to replace

Not saying you didn't, but when you replace the cam seals....did you place some grease on the inner part of the seal lip so it didn't get burned by the cam running dry, without the grease...premature failure of the seals is possible.?

The PVC could definitely be at fault...if you're half decent at taking things apart...the plenum isn't that hard to remove and replace.......may be easier and less of a headache than trying to fit your hands under the plenum....

Ive pulled my intake plenum about 6 times now. Ive got it down to about 20 min. I just leave all the vac hoses connected and flop it over the pass fender.

Heres what I remove when I take off the plenum.

Pass side: Remove:
-Cold start injector fuel line (get a rag because its gonna have fuel in it, and the 2 washers)
-Vac hose that goes to the brake booster (take it off the plenum)
-EGR vac hose (big black hose at the back, its shaped like 90*, its gonna fight you so put some sack in to it haha)
-EGR metal line that goes to the egr (the bottom 1 1/16th inch nut comes off)
-Theres a bracket that is held on by 1 nut (lower nut below the EGR that goes in the plenum) and a bolt thats on the head, you have to take off the passenger access panel on the fender well.


Driver side: Remove:
-Both throttle body coolant hoses. Take the back one off the TB, and take the front one off the intake plenum.
-Throttle cable/ cruise control cable
-Bracket that holds the throttle cable and the 2 vac hoses
-Fuel line (90* line) off the black hard line
-Intake tube

Your gonna have to drain about a half a gal of coolant too. There are 6 bolts and 2 nuts that hold the plenum on.


My front cam seals are leaking too, I cant remember if I put grease/oil on them when I did the HGs. Im guessing no since they are leaking :/

Replace the rubber grommet holding the PCV valve too! Its cheap and probably cooked!
