1990 pickup 2wd rear sag -FJ80 coil?

Hello,

I've read a lot about the issue with the 2nd gen rear sags. But most of these post are about 4runners. Well, my 1990 2wd pickup sags too. And I don't have the tools to fabricate a Zuk mod. I just want to have something easy to help lift this rear back to match the front. A friend of mine is giving me his front a rear FJ80 coils. Can I just pop this in to the rear and call it a day?

If you can't do the Zuk mod, how do you plan on putting the FJ80 springs in?

ZUK=Coil springs
FJ80= Coil springs

Am I missing something here?

Also the FJ80 springs are WAY too tall/heavy duty for a 2WD truck.

Thanks for answering my post. I was thinking to have my mechanic install the springs. Well, I took a look at the bottom of my truck today and I notice that the leafs are positioned on the bottom of the axle, held together by a U-bolt. The way the 2nd gen pickups are very different from the 4runners. The bump stops are on the top instead of on the bottom as compared to them 4runners. I searched and searched on this forum and I see a lot of people doing the zuk mods, cut and non-cut. But I haven't been able to find a post for the 1990 2wd pickup. Sorry to ramble on over here cuz I'm new to this.

Just do it the right way and replace the leaf packs or do an add a leaf. As you found, the 2wd rear suspension is not setup the same as the 4x4 stuff so you would have to weld on a coil spring perch for the coils to sit on the axle.
