I doubt the fuel filter causes your smell unless it is leaking .

Just what does it smell like .

Your sure it is your vehicle and not something else ??

just smells like exhaust like you’re behind a leaf blower you think it’s a catalyst converter Doesn’t really smell like rotten eggs

If it smells like exhaust then check out the exhaust. Look for cracks and such. WHEN are you smelling this? Try to give us some ideas of the situation when this odor arises. Is it only when it is cold out? After you start and stop? As many details as possible please.

If it was a clogged cat you would notice a power loss, not to mention the cat would get super hot. Drive it at night, if its glowing red then that is your problem. Has your gas mileage dropped or anything performance wise suffered? Could be a bad o2 making the truck run rich. It could be anything I have listed so far, you need to start going down the list.
