i have a July built 1988 toyota truck, single cab 4x4. it's a 22RE motor.

when i rev it, the truck doesn't go back down to idle immediately after letting off the pedal... it sticks at the RPM's it revved to for a few seconds, and revs down slowly. could engine gunk in the Intake make the butterfly in the throttle body stick? if not, what causes this?

also, same issue, i hit the clutch to change gears (it's a 5 speed), the engine revs up a bit, same symptoms as neutral revving.

i dunno if that whistling noise is the truck or not... most likely not... probably just a bird. i don't hear it that clearly when i sit in it.
