1988 pick up bed rust?

well i think the problem is the seam where the top and bottom of the bed side meet. Maybe u could seal that up it might help. I did when i redid mine but.. idk if it will stop the rust thats already there.

Sounds stupid, but I simply spray stuff with PB Blaster, seams, etc. Also spray it on stone hits that wipe the paint off until I get around to touching the paint up.

expensive way - take the box off sandblast/grind the rust off. Primer, undercoat and paint.
Cheap way - unbolt the inside box panels. Sand, undercoat and same underneath and keep it waxed religiously.
My box is long since gone (5 years ago) but yeah it rusts out at the seam where the bed and the box meet and around the gas filler cap.
I've noticed trucks with caps don't do that because moisture doesn't get into the box. If you can stand having a cap on your truck.
I got a mazda b2200 box on mine now so.... problem solved! :0
