1988 Factory Service Manual

Hi all,

I was looking for an '88 FSM and noted that the tech write-ups link was no longer valid. I then pulled the manual down from ttora and found one giant pdf file that is impossible to quickly use. So, I broke the file into its original chapters and compiled it as a PDF portfolio, which can still be viewed using Acrobat Reader.

I didn't know which site would be the best for storage, but here's the link:

http://www.mediafire.com/?y3v3oayzcs8d737

Cheers!

p.s. - not sure which forum this should be in

np, mudhippy,

And if you liked that, then you'l love:

https://rapidshare.com/files/3712219...yota4x4FSM.pdf

It's the same compiled FSM, but now it's searchable!

I can't promise that it's entirely searchable since I used OCR scanning in Acrobat, but I tested it a few times and found what I hoped to. It took hours, but I am considering doing the same thing with other available digital FSMs. God knows the one I use is a PITA--though massive thanks to those who scanned them from paper to start with!

Oh, and rapidshare says that the file will be deleted after 30 days of non-use...

These files won't be much use if not saved some place readily accessible on an extended basis.

Any chance you could repost your FSM or PM me? I've been looking for a usable copy of the 88 FSM for a long time.

No, you don't get it. There's an online FSM for 88. All's he did was make that pdf a portfolio(broke up into multiple chapters/sections instead of one massive multi-page document), and made that pdf portfolio searchable. I somehow lost the copy of it I had. But it really wasn't the coolest thing in the world/a must have. And if I really wanted to I could make myself another one(after figuring out exactly how to).

But, for now there's always this one(so long as you don't need the 88 V6 manual, which nobody has a copy of).

http://ncttora.com/fsm/87-4Runner/to...4runner_88.pdf

Hint: Right click that link then "save target as" to download, or left click to open it(takes as much time as downloading/saving just to open the file)

be nice to see something with a 3VZE in it. I haven't found one yet and granola boy links are dead.

thinking of just buying one, either digital or paper.

Well, there's not really a "V6" or "3VZ-E" version of the 88 FSM. I probably should have said "the V6 part of the 88 manual" instead(of 88 V6 manual). Because the the truth is the 88 FSM has a "V6 supplement". Which you can easily find(since I'm going to tell you where*). However, the rest of the aforementioned free downloadable 88 FSM(Repair Manual) still applies to vehicles with(or without) a 3VZ-E.

*You need to order one from a dealership. The specific item you're looking for is called the 1988 Truck & 4Runner Repair Manual V6 SUPPLEMENT and its Publication Number is RM078. This website says it costs $40.70. The 88 FSM(Repair Manual) is Publication Number RM066, and costs $66.75...NOT!

Not at all really.

Why?

Because it's an EXACT copy of the 93 FSM 3VZ-E Section. Much of which does not apply to pre-93 3VZ-Es. Even less of which applies to 88 3VZ-Es in particular(which are unique in many ways to later years).

Thanks anyway...I guess.

I watched ebay for a while and was able to find both factory service manuals (engine and chassis, suspension) for my truck. Theyre in great shape. Just throwing it out there that you can find them. I feel its easier looking at a book while working on the truck rather than the computer.

I was wondering if you ever found a manual to use with your 3.0 or did you just use the 93? I have a 88 as well and I'm going through the same problem.
