1988 4Runner | Clutch Adjustment Issues

Hello all. I have a 1988 4Runner and I replaced the clutch a while back. The truck has been sitting mostly. I notice that the clutch has no free play. So I located the stop nut and the push rod that goes into the slave. That little push rod will not move. Most of the videos I’ve seen it can be adjusted my hand. Just wondering if they a sign of a bad slave cylinder or what? Thanks for the help

Are you talking about adjusting the master cylinder behind the clutch pedal?

thanks for the reply!

I want to adjust the free play as I have none. I’ve loosened the lock nut and from all of the examples I have seen, the long screw that goes into the master cylinder should be able to rotate easily by hand. Mine won’t rotate at all even with pliers. Someone wondering if the master cylinder is bad it needs to be replaced.

Thanks

It sounds like the pushrod is seized at the piston or clevis. Or both. Try pulling the clevis pin and detaching the clevis from the clutch pedal and see if you can rotate the clevis itself.

i can't see how the end of the pushrod would have gotten attached to the clutch master cylinder, but i wonder if there is something distorted that's putting pressure on the area, like a broken clutch bracket: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...ing-new-81611/

taking it apart as mholme described will tell you a lot.
